Mochakk, the Brazilian DJ and producer known for his genre-blending sets and infectious charisma behind the decks, has quickly become one of the most exciting names in the global dance scene. On June 21, 2025, he brought his signature event, Mochakk Calling, to Brooklyn Army Terminal—and delivered his most compelling performance yet.
Set against the cinematic backdrop of the Manhattan skyline and sunset-lit pier, the open-air venue buzzed with energy from the start. DJ Boring B2B DJ Seinfeld and Lovefoxy laid the groundwork with dusty house and shimmering acid, setting the tone for a night that felt both massive and intimately charged. Though Brooklyn Army Terminal has potential as a legendary
venue, it wasn’t without quirks—sound was inconsistent depending on where you stood, as sound was better in certain areas than others. That being said, the show was nothing short of spectacular, with amazing visuals and a
Mochakk’s three-hour set was nothing short of a journey. He started with a minimal groove laced with Brazilian funk influences, pulling the crowd into rhythm as daylight faded. As the night deepened, and the sun set, the energy darkened with a smooth dive into UK garage before building into a full-blown tech-house peak. Despite the genre shifts, the set flowed effortlessly, a testament to Mochakk’s skill as a selector. Comparable to a smooth rollercoaster, this trip was truly nothing but enjoyable. Transitions seemed effortless, song selection curated perfectly, and the atmosphere jumping. The emotional climax arrived as he dropped Daft Punk’s “One More Time,” sending the waterfront into euphoric release. For those who were skeptical of the Mochakk hype, this set likely turned them into believers–truly a show to remember. I personally enjoyed watching his set transform relevant to the sun going down. As night came out, so did the darker music.
From the lighting to the pacing, the production elevated the experience into something immersive and lasting. From the song selection, to the location, Mochakk proved he can command a dance floor with range, heart, and serious intent. With his tour now heading to Europe—including a highly anticipated Ibiza residency—fans in the U.S. would be wise to catch any extended set when he returns. If Mochakk Calling NYC was any indication, he’s just getting started.
