Shaq’s Bass All Stars: Rawhide Was on Another Level
Content & Article by: Anthony Cavale
There’s always something special about Rawhide. The desert backdrop, the high-octane production, the crowd that feels like family—it’s one of those places where the vibe is guaranteed. But on August 16th, for Shaq’s Bass All Stars, the energy wasn’t just good—it was electric.
There was something in the air that night, like everyone was tuned into the same frequency, and the one running the signal was none other than Diesel himself. Phoenix hasn’t forgotten Shaq. From his short stint with the Suns to his larger-than-life personality, the city has always had love for him. But what makes Shaq different on stage compared to every other EDM heavyweight is that mix of superstar aura and genuine connection.
When you see him behind the decks, it’s not just another DJ—it’s Shaquille O’Neal. Hall of Famer. NBA champion. Absolute giant of a man. And yet, he’s right there in the middle of the bass drops, feeding off the crowd’s energy like he was born to do it. That’s the thing—Shaq doesn’t just press play. Every five minutes, he was pulling fans on stage, letting them rage with him, snap selfies, and live out a moment they’ll never forget. You could feel his love for the people. That’s rare. It’s the same kind of community vibe that Rawhide always delivers—friendly faces, no bad energy, just a massive family all locked into the same beat. Along with Shaq, Allison Wonderland played a captivating set that I was surprised by. Her style of trap and bass was a sight to see. I looked back at the crowd and smiled because the head banging was consistent. It is my hope to see her live some time again in the future.
The drops hit harder, the lights flashed brighter, and Chandler felt like the center of the EDM universe for one night. Shaq didn’t just perform—he turned Rawhide into a full-blown bass cathedral, where every drop felt like a dunk and every fan left buzzing with that post-show afterglow.
Rawhide has set a high bar for what a bass show can be, and Shaq cleared it like it was nothing. Can’t wait to see what they bring next.
